This is a single-page website to try to get you to visit Halfway to Mars, my Gemini capsule. There are two main ways to do this:

Use the Smolnet Portal

The easiest way to visit a Gemini capsule is to go to the Smolnet Portal on mozz.us. From there, you can paste gemini://gemini.circumlunar.space/users/adiabatic/ into the address bar on the site, or you can follow this link to Halfway to Mars via the Smolnet Portal where the URL is filled in for you.

Even if you’re like me and would rather just click on a direct link, you may still want to visit the Smolnet Portal homepage; it has links to capsules that will help you find other interesting capsules. That said, Halfway to Mars has its own page of links to things.

Get a real Gemini client and use it

The Smolnet Portal is pretty good, but in many ways a dedicated Gemini client can be even better. I use and recommend Lagrange on macOS and Linux. Unfortunately, I don’t have any good personal recommendations for Windows, iOS, or Android.

At any rate, using Lagrange instead of someone else’s portal gets you:

  • integrated Atom feed checking
(so you can have a computer check to see if your favorite capsules got updates instead of you checking yourself)
  • a browser that will show you the current page’s table of contents
  • certificate management
(so you can generate certificates and sign into capsules with them)
  • easier keyboard navigation
(hold down Alt (Option) and then press a number to visit a link)
  • the ability to pick your own fonts
(Gemini pages don’t specify fonts; many clients will let you pick the ones you want to use)

What you’ll find there

In no particular order:

  • A gemlog that’s one-page-per-year
  • A bunch of other pages with words on them, most of which are my own
  • An Atom feed that provides not only links to updated parts of the capsule, but also provides running commentary on the changes
  • A comically large collection of links telling you how you can make your own personal website, especially considering the medium
  • Calm™ (probably)
